Being a smart arse ...... I saw a super set of wheels for an XJR1300 on ebay and blagged them right away, not knowing of course that different years have different internals ...... ie 2000 wheels will not fit a 2016 bike .....

Front was a simple operation (change bushings) but the rear had a 20mm spindle and mine a 28mm spindle.


After speaking to friend John Maclean from Maclean Racing, I learned that swapping wheel bearings was a possibility.
So that's what we did.
All the bearings inner races are clamped together with spacers which had to be hand made ....... but then discovered that the hole through the center of the wheel was only 29mm (with a 28mm spindle, no room for a spacer) so had to find a way to bore it out.
Looked at machine shops (big lathes) no luck hmmmmmm then ............

ordered new seals to fit then ......

............ and its a go ............

Have to add here the reason for the new wheels was to fit these Winter tyres and yes you read that correctly, these are actual Winter tyres with the mountain logo for use in temps around zero degs.
